Coupe up the good work! 2022 Team GB Coupe de L’avenir Motocross Squad revealed!

Preparations got underway on Wednesday, 27th July 2022 as the management took on the task of selecting the riders to represent Team GB in this year’s Coupe de L’avenir 50th anniversary.

The event will be held in Belgium on October 1st and 2nd 2022. The event will host 15 teams and is often referred to as the under 21 Motocross of Nations. This year the team have decided to do things slightly differently by selecting a squad of riders with every single one of them capable of flying the flag if selected.

The squad was recently announced on the team’s social media page (team_gb_coupe_de_l_avenir on Instagram). We arrived at an immaculately prepared track at Cusses Gorse in Wiltshire. Track conditions were nice and tacky and proved to be perfect for the event. The riders looked to be railing berms and throwing huge whips of some off of the big jumps there. The day started with us talking about the history and format of the event and our vision for 2022.

The riders get plenty of track time throughout the day, allowing us to capture images and videos for our social media. It was great to see the calibre of riders that we have here in the UK throughout all classes. Despite a couple of absentees from the squad on the day it still gives us a lot of confidence in taking a very strong team this year. We plan to hold another squad day at Moto 101 early September and announce our final lineup at the last round of the British championship at Landrake on September 11th. Also in attendance were 4RR race wear, who will be providing both custom kit and pit wear for riders and the support team.

The current squad being:

65cc riders

  • Casey Lister
  • Marty Spires
  • Riley Ray Barrow
  • Arthur Moore
  • Harley Marczak
  • Harry Dale
  • Brian Gyles
  • Arthur Moore
  • Leo Wilson

85cc Riders

  • Charlie Richmond
  • Josh Vail
  • Freddie Gardener
  • Hayden Statt
  • Robbie Daly
  • Alfie Geddes Green
  • Ollie Bubb
  • Jamie Keith

125cc Riders

  • Charlie Heyman
  • Wal Beaney
  • Ben Mustoe

250 cc and 450cc riders

  • Tom Grimshaw
  • Sam Nunn
  • Bobby Bruce
  • Adam Colling
  • Eddie Jay Wade
  • Callum Mitchell

I think you will agree on the hard job for the team is going to be whittling down these unbelievably talented young riders to 3 x 65cc riders 3 x 85cc riders 1 x 125 cc rider 1 x 250cc rider, and 1 x 450 cc rider. All of these riders compete at the highest level of youth motocross and will more than likely be the next British championship title contenders for years to come. Like all squad selections, there will be riders who have just missed out… Please keep working hard as if not this year; we have plenty more years to come.

With this year’s event being the 50th anniversary, we want to go in style, but unfortunately, it comes at a cost. If you can help Team GB this year in any way, we would really appreciate it. For any businesses out there, we can run you your logo on race and pit wear in return for a small contribution. You can also use the go fund me page with the link below. We do have a small budget but looking to go big this time and give the riders what they deserve.

Come on, let’s get behind  Team GB and do our very best to bring the trophy back across the water.
