Chetton challenge for round 4! 2023 Formula Grasstrack Championship Round 4 – Preview

The Formula Grasstrack Association will honour former senior champion Steve Mildoon as they host the 3rd running of the Steve Mildoon memorial meeting this Saturday at Chetton near Bridgnorth, Shropshire.

And it’s another huge lineup with nearly 60 competitors across 7 classes. It’s sure to be a fantastic afternoon of racing at the popular and historic grasstrack venue.

In the E-bike class, championship leader Dalton Wright will have to be at his best as he will have to do battle with the returning  2022 champion, Lilly Bence whilst Kobi Gutteridge also returns and Levi Collins makes his FGA debut.

The Auto cadet class continues to remain strong with 5 entries including Dakota Wright, Alfie Shipp and Charlie Dowd. Lucas Astley and Kaylem Bourne also continue their debut seasons in grasstrack racing.

Chloe Davis and AJ Bence remain the only 2 cadets and will be combined with the Autos.

Cub champion Logan Price makes the long trip from the Wirral to try and claw back some points on the super quick Finley Theobald, Whilst Archie Whitelam and Jessica Cox return to the grasstrack scene after several meetings on the youth speedway.

Ollie Binns heads up a strong junior line up with Crewe brothers, Joe and Jack racing on home soil. Jack Baker travels up from Somerset to continue his strong start to the season whilst Liam Cox will look to keep on improving in his return season. Charly Arthur and Isaac Collins-Bullock are also entered alongside Maz Alexander in his 2nd meeting ever.

A field of 34 Seniors is headed by champion Wayne Broadhurst who has 2 round wins to his name in 2023 already. But its a quality line up with 2 time 250cc champion Graham Thomas and brother Philip entered. Kevin Gwillam hopes to continue a successful return to racing after missing Round 1.  Mark Scopes has firmly stamped his name in the front runners order after some impressive results so far. Max Broadhurst and Sam Hall are both young men with the talent and determination to topple some of the older guard off their perches after taking some big wins in the first 2 meetings.

David Meredith makes a rare appearance and will no doubt be battling for wins and is joined by fellow Mancunian John Higham. David Binns and Colin How are 2 names that you can’t write off a top 3 position.

Practice is at 12pm with 1st race at 1pm.
