The first official race of the 2023 season kicked off for the Chambers Racing team at the famous Hawkstone International Circuit. The Salop Motor Club had been putting in serious work to the track & coupled with the decent British weather we have had recently, the track was in perfect condition.

Qualifying & the races this year had a slight change as the MX1/MX2 were joint with Tom & Dan in the MX1 Ben, Glenn & Alfie in the MX2. Tom making his debut race in MX1 took 9th & Dan 16th. In MX2
Glenn ended in 8th, Ben 10th & Alfie 11th.
Disappointingly, Glenn had a mechanical issue which unfortunately cut his weekend short.
Race 1 – Tom got a flying start up front coming around the first corner in 6th, with the rest of the team not far behind! A race distance of 25 minutes plus one lap, the lads got their heads down & got their charges on. Dan was putting in a great performance catching until he had a slight off, but he picked himself back up and pushed on through the pack.
Meanwhile Ben & Alfie where both back & forth with one another, showing they both had great speed and strength. The first race ended with MX1 Tom P12 Dan P16, MX2 Ben P5 Alfie P6.
Race 2 – yet again Tom had a blinding start coming round in the top 6.
Dan again not far behind Tom, these two clearly showing their starting abilities. With that both set to work early on.
With a tough track by mid-afternoon, Tom finished in 10th & Dan 14th.
Ben had to go out on his spare bike due to a few bike issues but him & Alfie again found themselves battling each other. Alfie seemed to have some late afternoon speed & managed to push his way into 3rd where he remained. Ben finished in a respectful 8th.
Superfinal Race – three of the lads took part in the superfinal race, throwing themselves into another 25 min + one lap moto on an extremely rough track. Tom bought it home in 10th & Dan in 11th. In MX2, Alfie finished the weekend off in 4th just missing a spot on the superfinal podium.
Harvey Cashmore made his debut in the adult ranks in the support race.
Despite a qualifying result of 16th, Harv finished all 3 races with good results bringing home 4th 12th & 10th.
All in all, a really positive weekend. It was clear to see the winter effort of all the riders paying off. Apart from a few bike issues which can be ironed out before the first round of MX Nationals & Revo British, it was nice to get back to the races.
Next race the team will be attending is MX Nationals – Oakhanger 11th & 12th March.
