Chambers and Askew battle adversity at MXGP of Switzerland

It was a tough weekend for Jack Chambers and the Bike It Kawasaki team at the MXGP of Switzerland, as early race collisions in both motos would cause the American to be on the back foot right from the start. Despite a 13th start in the first race, a set back to 23rd limited the number 12 to a 16th position.

Luck didn’t improve in the second race as a first corner crash in the second moto would require Chambers to fight from the back up to 17th before retiring from the race due to bike damage from the earlier crash.

In the EMX250 class Billy Askew had a challenging weekend, also coming together with another rider causing him to fight back through the pack. A better second race was hampered by goggle issues, and after finally replacing them was able to secure a 17th, combined with a 16th from the first race for 17th overall.

This weekend will see the DRT squad head to SchoolHouse, as Chambers looks to narrow down the 8 points he sits behind the series leader.

Jack Chambers – MX2

“Been a rough couple of weeks at the past 2 GP’s. Staying positive with three rounds of the MXGP season left and 2 rounds of the British Championship. I’m hoping to close in on the British as I’m 8 points down on the lead after a rough first moto at the last round, but with 4 races left there’s enough to get the job done. “

Billy Askew – EMX250

“This weekend in Switzerland I had a difficult weekend, things weren’t going my way. In race one I didn’t have the best of starts, made some quick moves and got up to the top 15 but came together with another rider and dropped back to 30th. I then pushed hard and worked my way back up to 16th and was pushing right to the end. Sunday was looking good, the track was wet and I enjoyed the conditions. I got off to a much better start and was around the top ten but on lap two a rock damaged my goggles, I rode half the race without them and struggled so pulled in to get some more. I came back through as quickly as I could and got p17, altogether it wasn’t the positions we were looking for and I know I belong up front so i’ll work hard and get back racing and get where I know I should be”

Steve Dixon – Team Manager

“Another tough weekend, normally in a year ending in 4 my team does well! Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case this year, but as always we remain positive and look forward to the next few races and seeing our riders give 100%.”
