Can Wilkinson & Millard end the 2024 World Sidecarcross Championship on a high? – Preview

Can Wilkinson & Millard end the 2024 World Sidecarcross Championship on a high?

A thrilling and somewhat eventful penultimate round of the 2024 FIM World Sidecarcross Championship in Germany will set up the finale very nicely indeed. The Crossodromo La Colla in north-western Italy is little more than seventy kilometres from the French border, and around one hundred from the very swish resorts of Nice, Cannes and Monaco.

Whether or not the great and glamorous will grace La Colla with their presence remains to be seen, but either way our show will come to town in a big way. Included on the programme is the final round of the EMX Quadcross series, with the king still to be formally crowned in that.

In the sidecar title chase, Marvin Vanluchene and Glenn Janssen’s lead is cut to thirty-one points, as the Lielbardis twins maintain their challenge. But will it be too little too late for the Latvian stars?

Killian and Evan Prunier consolidated their third place with two good rides in Germany as Koen Hermans and Ben van den Bogaart suffered yet another retirement, whilst scoring third in the other.

With so much at stake, the Lielbardis twins will fight all the way, as will all the teams, especially as this final round sets the scene for the Sidecar and Quadcross of nations the following week.

The cards are stacked in favour of Vanluchene and Janssens, but as Marvin himself has said “this is a mechanical sport, so anything can happen”.

No-one knows that better than Koen Hermans who now looks destined to finish fourth.

We are all looking forward to seeing this track for the first time, also sharing the final weekend with the new Sidecar and Quad champions.
