Can Walker get the job done in Poland? 2024 EMX Quadcross Championship Round 4 – Preview

2024 EMX Quadcross Championship Round 4 - Preview

The racers are all now looking forward to the penultimate round of the 2024 EMX Quadcross Championship, to be held over the weekend of June 15th / 16th. Current weather reports for Tor Motocrossowy Gdansk are pointing towards qualifying being rather warm; however, Sunday is looking undecided at this early stage, with chances of rain looming. Nonetheless, nearly 30 riders are entered for the racing this weekend, which shall absolutely provide us once more with high-octane action.

This weekend will see the first opportunity for Harry Walker to come away with the European title in his pocket. For his dream to become realised, he shall need to leave Gdansk with a lead of over 50 points which, with only one round to follow, would be an insurmountable gap for his opposition to overcome.

Manfred Zienecker comes into this Polish round, hot off a stunning weekend in Czech Republic in which he went 4-1, to take the silver spot overall – his best weekend of the championship so far. It is fair to say that he comes into this weekend on the back foot, being 37 points Walker in the title race, but, despite this, he will know more than anyone that the championship is not over until the chequered flag is thrown. Alongside Zienecker will be the reigning champion, Patrick Turrini, who turned his fortunes around in Kramolin as he went 1-2 to put his hopes of retaining the #1 plate into 2025 back onto a steady course.

We must, of course, mention the local heroes who shall be keen to impress in front of the adoring home supporters, with the likes of Thomas Jamrozy, Marcin Wozniak, Roman Gwiazda, Bartlomiej Korylo, Kacper Mieszkowski, and Wiktor Kusmierczak taking to the gate. Casting our minds back to 2023, Gwiazda brought home his Yamaha on the podium with a 5-3 finish, so he will surely be looking to repeat this success this year and could well throw a spanner in the works for the championship contenders.

One thing we can be sure of is that this weekend could well decide the outcome of the championship and is certainly not one to be missed.
