In the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship, you can’t waste your time along the way. With five GPs on the calendar and 15 rounds to go, every point counts. The 2023 season is already coming to an end and the two titles that remain to be distributed will know their winners at the end of the rounds contested for the second Polish Grand Prix run in the Gliwice Arena.
BOLT at the gates of a third coronation… in a row !
Billy BOLT (GBR-Husqvarna) has had an exemplary season. Before the last three races of the 2023 season, the 26-year-old Briton and official Husqvarna rider has won an impressive 98% of all the races contested this winter!! Be careful, do not imagine that BOLT triumphs without adversaries or no glory. He has to face, at each grand prix, fierce competition that pushes him to give his maximum throughout the evening of competition. When BOLT gives its maximum, it is regularly synonymous with first place overall. All year, he had to fight hard against his compatriot the Beta privateer Jonny WALKER. Arriving in Gliwice, WALKER is 36 points behind BOLT. It would take a big comeback for WALKER to be crowned world champion. The world of sport is such that no certainty is ever possible. Billy BOLT is therefore the favorite of the bookmakers. To be titled, BOLT must content itself with finishing the first final ahead of WALKER. You can trust the boy to close the season in this first round. But WALKER showed a lot of determination and talent to delay until the final round of the season to know the world champion. He will bravely play his luck with all the motivation that characterizes him in 2023.
In Prestige, there is also a place of honor to be picked up during this final evening. Third place in the general classification is still at stake between two high-caliber riders. Cody WEBB (USA-Sherco) is the current third, but he is under threat from Taddy BLAZUSIAK (POL-GASGAS). The official GASGAS is 3 small points behind the official Sherco. In Jerusalem, the American was forced to retire following an engine failure. This misadventure totally revived the stextuple Polish world champion. In Gliwice, there is no room for calculation, whoever finishes ahead will be on the final podium of the 2023 season. Small advantage for BLAZUZIAK who will have the support and fervor of Polish supporters entirely committed to his cause. Answer Saturday evening around 9:00 p.m.!
Mitch BRIGHTMORE facing his destiny
The Junior category is making a comeback for the last round of the season. The fight promises to be superb, they are three to be able to win the title of best young player this year. Mitch BRIGHTMORE (GBR-GASGAS) has the advantage as he leads the general classification for the moment. The young Englishman, who is making his SuperEnduro debut this year, won two Grand Prix (Krakow, Riesa). Gifted and insensitive to pressure, the eldest of the BRIGHTMORE siblings is the big favorite to succeed Dominik OLSZOWY (POL-GASGAS, 2022 champion). You read that right, Mitch isn’t the only BRIGHTMORE to ride in the green plate category. His younger brother ASHTON won the last round in Budapest while his brother didn’t make the podium. 6 points is what separates the two brothers. It seems highly unlikely that team orders will be given to the two boys. With the Junior class being so hotly contested, it is almost impossible to predict in advance who will be crowned world champion 2023. The BRIGHTMORE will have to watch the boy who is only 10 lengths behind the championship leader. Milan SCHMUESER (GER-Sherco) can still believe in the title, but the German driver would have to do the perfect Grand Prix by winning while Mitch and Ashton are having a night in hell. Raul GUIMERA (ESP-Sherco), second in the Budapest Grand Prix, will be able to spoil the party.
The evening in Gliwice promises to be sumptuous with a lot of suspense in anticipation. It’s a safe bet that the organizers will have sold all available seats in the Gliwice Arena, which can accommodate nearly 13,000 spectators. All these races can be followed live on Superenduro.tv from 6:00 p.m. (CET), Saturday March 18, 2023.
