Bromsberrow beckons! 2025 AMCA British Motocross Championship Round 2 – Preview

Bromsberrow beckons! 2025 AMCA British Motocross Championship Round 2 - Preview

From Fatcat Motoparc in the North to Bromsberrow in the South, it’s round two of the 2025 AMCA British MX Championship this coming weekend, April 26th/27th. Up in Yorkshire for the opening episode of the title chase, it was all about some outstanding debut performances and maiden victories, and if the Bromsberrow action turns out to be even half as good, it’s going to be quality!

In a very competitive mixed Open/MX2 class, James Dodd (2), Will Hughes and Josh Waterman took the moto wins. Those results meant that FUS Marsh Honda ace Doddy topped the Open class standings after round one from Hughes and Jayden Ashwell. There was also a red FUS Marsh Honda at the top of the MX2 table with Henry Williams claiming the first-place trophy, followed by CPMX Racing KTM pilot Waterman and Luke Dean.

The main 125cc pilots, along with the Youth 125cc racers, also go together in a combined Championship contest. Young debutant Franky Jubb scored a fantastic maiden AMCA win in the opening Fatcat moto before then unfortunately being forced out of the remainder of the meeting with an arm injury. From here onwards, reigning AMCA 125cc Champion Jimmy Margetson (2) and Woz Boyce, another maiden winner, took the moto victories. On the podiums, though, it was another fantastic maiden victory story created as a delighted Luke Newman scored his first ever AMCA Championship overall success in the main 125cc class, joined on the box by Wyatt McGregor and Margetson, whose weekend scoring had been hampered by some frustrating mechanical gremlins. Maintaining the maiden winner theme, an equally delighted Linc Hasted was top Youth 125cc pilot with Ollie Jewitt and Boyce also starting the new campaign with strong podium placings.

New boy Stanley Siebert was in simply scintillating form in the Youth BW/SW85cc class. Siebert stormed to four, immaculate victories at Fatcat and thus topped the podium ahead of Sean Smout and Alfie Pincher. In this joint class, the SW85cc racers certainly gave a great account of themselves, continually mixing it in top ten moto positions. Indeed, eventual SW85cc overall victor Freddie Darvill finished with a strong, impressive 7th placing. Also, right in the SW85cc mix and thus starting their respective Championship campaigns in style were Freddie Smith and George Milnes.

Despite suffering from a back injury, Lauren Collingwood set the fastest qualifying time in the Women’s Championship before then proceeding to lead all four Fatcat moto’s. On each occasion, though, the reigning Champion Grace Richards then showed just why she is the boss by gliding through in her own silky, smooth style before racing onto victory with Amber McGregor 3rd. Although the top three broke clear, there was still plenty of action going on for the minor placings, with Holly Williams eventually getting 4th overall. The Women’s entry was a little lower than expected at Fatcat, so let’s hope more of the fast UK Ladies are on the start line for round two this weekend!

In a Vet’s Championship which incorporates separately scored classes for O40’S, O50’s and O60’s, defending O50’s Champion Simon Lane scored three super moto wins at Fatcat. The other moto win on the weekend went to his brother James, who is the defending O40’s Champion. With this contest including several new names, the action during round one was always interesting and equally competitive. Indeed, debutants Jamie Dobson and Lee Martin went on to bag the top two overall positions in the O40’s as Simon Lane took the overall O50’s victory with Brian Staples the leading O60’s rider.

New for the 2025 AMCA Championship events is a Juniors/Seniors Clubman class, and at Fatcat, it produced a stacked entry. Ben Harrison (2), Harvey Hunt and Michael Harbage took the moto wins. With Harrison only competing, though, on the second day of action, it meant that he did not figure on the podiums. Instead, it was Harbage, Oliver Parry and Ricky Ryder the top three Seniors with Lewis Day, Oliver Critchley and Harvey Hunt filling the Juniors podium.

So, will the Fatcat maiden winners gain more success at round two, or will yet more new names claim some AMCA Championship glory? The only way to find out is to make sure you are at Bromsberrow and witness the action first hand! The circuit, HR8 1PB, will be signposted from junction 2 of the M50, with racing programmed to commence at 11am on Saturday and 10.00am on Sunday.
