Beach Ready! 2022 AMCA Weymouth Beach Race – Preview

It’s AMCA Beach Motocross time this coming Sunday, October 9th at Weymouth as those great guys at Purbeck MXC join forces as usual with the local Weymouth and Portland Lions club to promote the 2022 episode of what is always a super event!

Words and Images by Mike Wood

Practice starts at 12 noon with the first moto due off at 1pm sharp. Once again the format is three Unlimited classes for Juniors, Seniors and Experts, all enjoying two extended moto’s each. And, the early Weymouth entry lists promises to produce plenty of great racing. Topping the bill is four times Weston Beach race winner Todd Kellett on his Drag’ on Tech Yamaha. Todd, the Experts victor at Weymouth in 2021 does though face some interesting opposition from the likes of 2022 ACU Revo MX2 Championship runner-up, MX Nationals MX2 Champion and also former Weymouth winner Jamie Carpenter along with the likes of Charlie Putman, Josh Bentley, Tommy Alba and Corey Hockey the 2022 Acerbis Nationals 2T Open class Champion. Also lining up in the Experts class is Alfie Calvert, the winner of the 2021 Weymouth Seniors class.

With big entries confirmed for this year’s Juniors and Seniors classes, Weymouth is certainly the place to be! As normal, spectators can watch all the action unfold totally for FREE but throughout the day Lions Club personnel will be in attendance on the Esplanade running bucket collections and selling special souvenir programmes. All funds raised will go to many of the worthwhile local charities so please try to dig deep and make a contribution.

So, get there early to ensure your vantage point on the Esplanade and enjoy the event. And don’t forget both before and after the racing to sample some of the fantastic hospitality outlets that exist in this beautiful Dorset coastal Town.
