This is something that they have been looking at for some months now and feel it is vital to encourage the next generation of pilots and passengers.
There will be two classes as below
Max cc | Age | Type |
250cc
(YSC1) |
9–11 Yrs | Up to 150cc 2 stroke
Up to 250cc 4 stroke |
450cc
(YSC2) |
11–16 Yrs | Up to 250cc 2 stroke
Up to 450cc 4 Stroke |
The two classes should allow for budget-based outfits to be built and cater for most families and cater for riders between the ages of 9 – 16 years old.
The Youth Sidecars will be permitted to race alongside Youth Quad classes, another innovative move which is designed to create sufficient numbers to allow clubs to be able to cater for these younger riders.
ACU MX Chairman Steve McCauley commented “Once again, we have been innovative, pro-active, and forward thinking in creating these new classes. We are fully aware that it will take time to build a successful structure, but I am very proud of the work that the committee and our Secretary have put into this. I’d also like to thank Kate Murch once more for her invaluable help and assistance with these new formats”.
