A weekend of highs and lows for Lucy Barker & AVT Campers KTM at Lugo WMX round!

The third round of the 2024 Women’s World Motocross Championship took place in Lugo, Spain at the weekend with Britain’s lone representative Lucy Barker looking to continue her positive results from the two opening rounds.

Lucy and the AVT Campers KTM team have shown they have the pace to mix it at the sharp end and did so again in qualifying with the 10th fastest lap.

In the first moto Lucy was running inside the top ten before a crash halted her progress and she brought it home in 14th, while in the second race she finished an excellent 10th although her result would later be amended to 15th after she was docked five place after failing a noise test. Her overall result was 14th.

Lucy said of her Lugo experience: “A weekend full of highs and lows for me at the 3rd round of the WMX. Lugo is an awesome track and I enjoyed every minute.
Qualifying we made improvement and got my best yet with a 10th even though I didn’t get the perfect lap.

“Race 1 running in 9th after and average start and making some fast passes on the opening laps. Catching the riders in front and unfortunately had a decent crash which massively knocked me out of my rhythm brought it home in 14th.

“Race 2 much better race with a decent start made some quick passes on the opening laps again sat in 11th for a while then managed to make a pretty good pass for 10th then pulled away fishing in a solid 10th with some nice consistent lap times. Sadly I was docked 5 places after failing noise test but more than happy to get my first top 10 finish in the race.

“Massive thanks to my mum dad brother and Greg for the support this weekend and also a huge thank you to my coach Brian for coming and helping me get the best results I can. thank you to AVT campers KTM and everyone else who supports me. Big learning weekend, we keep working ready for the next one.”
