The 2024 ROKiT Weston Beach Race is all set to run wild on the North Somerset sands this weekend, October 12th and 13th. This is the 41st staging of one of the UK’s craziest events and one of the World’s biggest beach races so catch our Preview and get the event info.

Saturday will see the 125/250 Youth race kicking off proceedings at 9am, followed by the Vintage race, the Quad & Sidecar race and culminating in the Hillbilly evening show.

The Sunday is rammed with races for the 65cc and 85cc’s in the morning before the big one fires into life, which is the Main solo race with over 800 riders taking on the gruelling dunes and the epic long straight at 1pm.

In the Solo’s multi-time champ, Todd Kellett is racing in France for his team, giving the chance for a new rider to take the top spot. After his MXON Team GB exploits at the weekend, expect Conrad Mewse to be at the sharp end, but 3 hours could take its toll on the rider who suffered an ankle injury at Matterley Basin.  American superstar Justin Barcia is a rider everyone is looking forward to seeing, and it will be interesting to see how he gets on in one of the world’s most unique events.

Ash Greedy is a former winner and one of the most accomplished riders, so without TK in the mix, it could be his time to reclaim the title. Watch out also for Sam Nunn, who is a former Youth champ at Weston and comes off the back of a strong MX season.  Other interesting entries are Crendon Tru7 Honda racer, Jake Nicholls, Chambers Racing’s Dan Thornhill, British young gun Reece Jones and 2024 Bridgestone British Masters Expert Champion James Dodd and watch out also for the Enduro riders who come into their own late in the race. Expect also some new heroes to emerge.

Watch the official Preview video below…

In the Quads, watch out for last year’s winner and 4X4 rider Steve Atkins, but he will have stiff opposition from the likes of former Champion Jamie Morgan, sand experts Carl Bunce and Oli Sansom, and, of course, last year’s runner Lathan Pritchard.

The Sidecar class looks tasty with Brett Wilkinson and Joe Millard looking to claim the victory, fresh from recording their first World Sidecarcross GP victory and runners-up spot with Team GB in the Sidecarcross of Nations, but the competition is stiff with 2023 champ David Williams keen to get his hands on the trophy once again.

Also stacked with talent are the Youth classes. The all-conquering British 65cc MX Champion Cohen Jagielki is looking to go one better after finishing second last year in the 65cc race. He will have his Team GB teammate and last year’s third-place rider Jett Gardiner to contend with, as well as 2024 Bridgestone British Masters Champion Elliott Shawyer and a whole host of other young guns looking to make their mark on the sport.

In the Small Wheel 85’s, the top two from last year, Jenson Severn and Lucas Lee, have moved up to the Big Wheel 85 class. This gives Archie Butterfield, who was third last year, the chance to step up to the plate and go for the title. As we know, there are plenty of laps and plenty of riders to complete and beat if he is to be crowned in 2o24.

There are champs galore in the Big Wheel 85cc class. Last year’s 65cc winner, Casey Lister, is jumping up into the group, and he is joined by the aforementioned Small Wheel number 1 from 2023, Jenson Severn. Blake Ward Clarke was third last year and will be a surefire contender, as will Lucas Lee.

The 125cc Youth class has the super-talented Josh Vail lining up and hunting for glory. He will have to overcome last year’s Big Wheel 85 title winner Drew Stock, last year’s runner-up Chester Hyde, and many others for another trophy to go on his packed mantle piece.

Lasy years 125 champ Reece Jones moves to the 250’s this time round along with Graham Haddow, who was third in the 125’s in 2023. They will be up against 2024 European Women’s MX Champion Lucy Barker, who is somewhat of a Weston Beach race expert and a whole gaggle of racers who want to be standing on that podium on Saturday morning.
