Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP’s Jeremy Seewer will achieve the unique record of starting 200 consecutive FIM Motocross World Championship GPs this weekend … and it is particularly poignant as he will reach this historic mark on home soil at Frauenfeld in Switzerland.
The thirty-year old from Bülach, a small town in the rolling countryside just thirty kilometres from Frauenfeld, began his full-time GP career in MX2 in 2014 after four wild-card appearances in the previous season. Following a four-year career in MX2 he advanced to the premier MXGP category in 2018 and has remained ever-present throughout seven seasons of racing at the highest level. He has scored world championship points in every GP he has attended and claimed thirteen GP victories during his career to date with no less than six FIM medals, and he is currently just three points shy of fourth in the 2024 world series standings. There is a certain poignancy that the hard-working Swiss will reach this monumental figure of two hundred consecutive GP starts – an achievement never previously reached during the sixty-eight year history of FIM world championship motocross – in front of his home fans, who are well-known for their vociferous support and will for sure have an even heartier welcome this weekend. Jeremy Seewer: “I must admit that I didn’t realise until you just called me but I I am proud to have been so consistent during my career. I have to say that for me podiums, wins and medals count for more but it’s amazing to be able to celebrate this milestone in front of the Swiss crowd; it’s super-cool and you can’t plan something like this. I don’t think there are any secrets to it except to work hard every day, develop the skills and instinct, take care of your body, make smart decisions, so many things. Touch wood, I’ve been almost injury-free during my career and perhaps I’ve been lucky too because everybody crashes at some time. Anyway, let’s enjoy this moment with the team and the fans this weekend and hopefully celebrate with a good result.”
