Bobryshev & Mewse on top at Culham! 2021 Revo ACU British Motocross Championship Round 1 – Full Results & Overview

The 2021 Revo ACU British Motocross Championship returned to the fold at Culham over the weekend and produced great racing for those allowed to watch it.

In MX1 the Par Homes Husqvarna of Evgeny Bobryshev was pretty much untouchable winning both motos comfortably while the Crendon Fastrack Honda of Tommy Searle and the Revo Seven Kawasaki of Dylan Walsh battling it out for the number 2 spot which went the way of Searle.

Conrad Mewse on his Hitachi KTM showed a clean pair of heels in the first MX2 moto building up a huge lead over his rivals with John Adamson having the ride of his life on the Gabriel Insulations KTM in second, with the Bike it MTX Kawasaki of Taylor Hammal third and his Aussie teammate Wilson Todd fourth. Todd fought back in moto 2 taking an early lead and gapping the field. Mewse did his best to catch Todd but to no avail and the Australian would win the moto, but it would be Mewse who would take the overall over Todd and Adamson.

Robbie Daly was in immense form in the 65’s winning all four motos for the overall with Olly Waters riding well for second in a stacked field and Joel Winstanley-Dawson taking the final podium spot.

GRT Holeshot KTM’s Cole McCullough drew first and second blood in the Small Wheel 85’s winning the opening two moto’s and the last race to boot but a DNF in race three hampered his chances of the overall which went the way of SJP Moto KTM racer Reece Jones who took the chequers in race three. Team Matt Gardiner MX racer Freddie Gardiner edged out Drew Stock for the final podium position with some smooth and consistent racing.

In the Big Wheel 85’s another Team Matt Gardiner MX rider Ben Mustoe was the first racer home in the opening moto, but GRT Holeshot KTM’s Finley Evans fought back hard and would notch victories in moto 2 and 3. Tyla Hooley came to the party in the fourth and final moto claiming a great race win. On the box, it was Evans followed by Mustoe and Hooley.

Three different riders would win races in the Youth 125 class but the overall victor GRT Holeshot KTM’s Ollie Colmer wasn’t one of them, but by sticking in four consistent rides the spoils went his way. James Barker would power home for the race one number one spot and would end the weekend second overall, with race two winner Joe Brookes on the Cab Screens Crescent Yamaha in third. Bailey Johnston started his weekend with a disqualification but used his frustration to good effect going 3-1-1, finishing the weekend in eighth.

In the MXY2 Youth Open, Jack Lindsay was firing on all cylinders early doors and staked his claim on the first two moto’s but Alfie Jones had other ideas and rounded out the weekend with victories in the final two moto’s to bag the overall ahead of Lindsay with Jude Morris in third.

The series moves onto Lyng for round 2 on the 23rd May where the MX1 & MX2 classes are joined by the Big Wheel 85’s, WMX and the MXY2 Youth Open and 125 classes.
