More rider news has come through over the weekend with top MX2 British Championship rider Bobby Bruce announcing his departure from the team that took him to his first moto win in the series in 2023.

In a statement on his social media channels, the rider who looked to be taking the title challenge to Isak Gifting in the British series before wrist injury from a practice crash put a stop to his year, outlined his current position as best as he could:

“Now the season is officially over I would like to thank Lee Tolan for all his help over the last 3 years. Although the last 2 years have been a bit of a rollercoaster and not what we planned you stuck by my side and gave me the opportunity to do what I love. We still managed to achieve great things together and I will be forever grateful for all you have done along side @linus_nyden and all the amazing team sponsors!🙏 Hope to give my 2024 plans out soon.”

We know that he will not be lining up with Crendon Fastrack Honda or their subsidiary Tru7 Racing team, and Gabriel SS24 KTM has already announced its line-up too, so unless Yamaha race the series with a different squad now that Cab Screens Crescent are out of the picture, the only top manufacturer-backed teams left in the UK would be SC Sporthomes Husqvarna and Dirt Store Kawasaki, although their plans are known in the industry and Bobby’s name is not mentioned there.

Bruce has been campaigning and scoring points in the MX2 World Championship as well, so it might be that a European team and base will be his destination, leaving a question mark over his British Championship participation. We will keep our ear close to the ground and bring you the news as soon as we can!
