2024 ISDE Day 5 sees Holcombe runner-up and Team GB Juniors in fifth

2024 ISDE Day 5 sees Holcombe runner-up and Team GB Juniors in fifth

A new set of tests awaited riders on Day 5 at the 2024 International Six Days Enduro. Completing 264km of riding today to finish off the enduro portion of the ISDE, Team GB’s riders had a brilliant day. Steve Holcombe retains second place in the overall standings after another runner-up finish today, with the Juniors in fifth and the Women making a jump up to seventh.

Tests 1 and 2 were located at the top of a valley surrounded by wind turbines, practically in the clouds, meaning that there was fog around the tests all day that didn’t clear. Visibility was low, so riders were rightfully cautious heading out for the first test. Test 5 was cancelled for this reason, as it wasn’t in great condition and the visibility was so low.

Steve Holcombe had another brilliant day, finishing second on four out of the five tests. Finishing day 5 just 14 seconds down on Spain’s Josep Garcia, it’s all to play for in the final motocross test tomorrow for Steve to fight for the overall win. Jack Edmondson also had a great day, ending up 25th in the World Trophy category and 11th in E3. Jack has been finding a rhythm the past few days which is proven by his strong results.

In the Junior World Trophy category, Max Ingham was GB’s fastest rider again today. Finishing a seriously impressive 33rd overall and 11th in Junior, Max had his best day of the week. Clearly suiting the new tests and the conditions, Max is now looking forward to the final motocross test tomorrow after an unfortunate end to last year’s event. Sam Hughes was close behind in 37th overall, with Sam Davies in 48th.

Nieve Holmes had an amazing day in the Women’s World Trophy, ending up 11th overall. Nieve stormed the special tests, despite the tough conditions, and put in some great times. Emily Hall also had a great day, finishing 20th overall. Libby struggled with sickness throughout the day, which, coupled with a one minute time penalty, pushed her back to 24th place.

All eyes are now on Day 6’s final motocross test which will mark the end of the 2024 ISDE!
