The tracks for the newly branded Scottish Motocross Championship have been revealed by new promoter for 2023 Johnny Hamilton.
Excitement is already building for the series and with some fantastic and historic tracks being revealed and with no date clashes with the other National championships, anticipation is high that some big hitters will be joining the championship.
The full statement released on the tracks and the new branding is below:
So here is the centre section of new backdrop for the 2023 Scottish Motocross Championship podium. The wings either side will hold the series sponsors but that main centre section is reserved out of respect for the emblem in the center, a reflection of the various marks and engravings found on what is without doubt one of the most historic trophies in world motocross – The Donald Sinclair Trophy.
We really should make more of a fuss about the beautiful trophy we have, that artefact of our sports history that each and every year is literally placed in the care of the new Scottish Motocross Champion. It’s not guarded under lock and key, It’s not kept behind glass in some cabinet in a museum….. it’s sitting on Billy’s Mackenzie’s kitchen table.
2023 is a new chance for Scotlands finest to scrap over that piece of silverware and with no clashes with any of the four main UK based Championships the word is a number of English and International riders are eyeing up that trophy.
Follow this page for news and views on everything related to this year’s Scottish Championship. We intend to work our socks off to build on that vital work that Stuart, Louise and the SACU have done in recent years to completely transform our championship.
They built it back up into something that once again we can all be proud of. Stuart and Louise both intend to be back in the hot seat very soon but in the meantime I’ll keep the ball rolling.
Stuart has built up a strong team of really decent and passionate individuals. Each and every one of them has agreed to continue their support for the series meaning next year should be business as usual.
Our tracks will remain almost the same and are spread out across the entire country meaning you get to visit just about every corner of Scotland.
Tain is our monster in the North, other UK series cannot come close to this place and early in the season the opportunity to start the championship in bottomless sand ensures our race is secure from weather conditions.
Rhynie is a mystery to me. I’ve traveled the world building tracks and how they found that beautiful red sand right up in the middle of one of the oldest mountain ranges on earth is completely surreal.
Doune is the favourite of everyone, from the professional practicers to the instagram poseurs and all the way to the top pros. It’s a classic and we expect a huge turnout.
Lochgilphead is in for a huge revamp and combined with its extraordinary location we intend to make rd 4 a perfect staycation opportunity for anyone who hasn’t yet had the opertunity or good sense to go and explore our stunning west coast already.
Hawick will be the only track change for next year. I have a personal connection to Duns but can’t let that get in the way of the reintroduction of a classic grass on venue from the 90s. Hawick is an unashamed traditional Scottish venue and you schoolboys aren’t gonna know what hit you.
Clayshant is once again the final round and deep sand is there to secure the event regardless of what the October weather has to throw at us. 1 week before the final 2023 Grand Prix at Matterley. Sounds like I’m gonna be busy then
You need to show speed on every surface the sport has to throw at you and the series is a little short to have a bad day at the office…. sounds like something worth watching to me!
We aim to have registration open in a few days. See you at the races. JDH
